Youth & Family Life Job Descripton

Job responsibilities

  • Develop and disciple the Middle and High School Youth to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Be a resource for the families of Middle and High School Youth to help raise their kids to be followers of Jesus Christ.
  • Create programs, partnerships, and opportunities to serve within the church and reach out to the surrounding North Minneapolis community.
  • Help elementary aged kids (primarily 5th & 6th graders) successfully transition from Children’s ministry/Awana to the Youth group.
  • Help Youth group aged students transition to continued involvement in a local church as they become college students/young adults.
  • Develop and shepherd a team of volunteers who are able to provide structure and relationships to help the youth grow in discipleship and service.
  • Work with the Christian Education Board and Children’s Ministry Team to cast a vision for the Youth and Family Ministry so that the ministry is seen as a seamless continuum from young children to young adults.
  • Participate in Staff Meetings, Christian Education Board meetings, staff related activities and actively participate in the life of Faith Baptist Church.
  • Staff are encouraged in their personal spiritual formation and professional growth development through active worship and prayer at Faith Baptist Church, mentoring relationships, and ministry related networks.
  • Encourage youth and family participation at Village Creek Bible Camp (villagecreek.net)
  • Travel with the Youth group to:
    • 2-5 weeks at Village Creek Bible Camp (Middle School camp, Senior High camp, Fall / Spring retreats, etc)
    • Triennial trip to the North American Baptist gathering in CA
    • As determined missions trips
  • Serve under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and Servant Elder Board.

 Necessary Skills and Qualities

  • Willingness to live and minister in the community that Faith Baptist serves.
  • Cheerful team builder; a team player with a “can do” attitude
  • Gifted with Leadership, Shepherding, Teaching, Administration
  • Ability to effectively recruit, train, inspire and coordinate volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

 Experience, Character and Shared Values

  • Passionate follower of Jesus Christ with a clear testimony and ongoing spiritual growth
  • Godly character lived out with integrity in daily life
  • Compassionate, relational, and approachable
  • Full agreement with the North American Baptist Statement of Beliefs (https://nabconference.org/about-us/our-beliefs) and affirmation of marriage.
  • Bachelor’s degree, with some studies in Christian Education or Biblical Theology (seminary degree preferred but not required)
  • 4 years or more of effective Youth Ministry leadership
  • Desires to lead a family equipping ministry, integrating youth, parents, and other generations to serve, grow, and worship together
